Hydrogen – a small but indispensable link

Hydrogen properties for systems.

  • Who can assist you with safely storing hydrogen and managing the associated risks?
  • How do you ensure that your hydrogen systems comply with the latest laws and regulations?
  • What modifications are needed in your installation and storage systems for permits?
  • How do you optimize your hydrogen installations for the most accurate measurements and analyses?
  • How do you ensure that your hydrogen installations remain in good and safe maintenance condition?

Hydrogen properties for systems

Hydrogen is known as the smallest molecule of all gases. This makes working with hydrogen challenging because the materials used must be sufficiently tight to contain the gas within pipes and components. However, not all materials are suitable for hydrogen and thus safe. Loss of strength in a pipe can lead to the failure of an installation, with all potential fatal consequences. Moreover, hydrogen is extremely flammable, which means there are strict requirements to meet standards.

Is hydrogen therefore difficult and dangerous to work with?

Not for Combigas fortunately. With more than 25 years of experience in designing and building gas distribution systems suitable for hydrogen, working with hydrogen systems is a core part of our operations. Hydrogen is already used in a wide range of industrial processes. We invest in ongoing training and development to ensure that our staff stays informed about the latest developments and technologies in hydrogen systems.

Hydrogen as an energy carrier

In recent years, hydrogen has become well-known as an energy carrier, an indispensable link in the energy transition. It can be used both as a direct fuel in heating installations and industrial furnaces, and for the production of electricity through fuel cells.

Combigas Product Range

In addition to traditional systems for the industry, Combigas has developed a range of standard and customized solutions for the energy transition. Our services are available in the BENELUX region due to regulations, while our products can be delivered worldwide upon consultation.
Our focus is on integrating various components of hydrogen systems, including:

  • Wide range of possible pressure levels; from 200, 300, 380, 500 up to parts for 700 bar
  • Load and unload panels
  • Control panels
  • Control and safety systems
  • Basic calculations for component sizing and as input for HAZOP studies
  • Required periodic maintenance and inspection
